Powers and Duties of Pet Guardian

The following Powers and Duties of the Pet Guardian shall apply and form an integral part of this WILL.

1. Custody and Care

  • Take physical and legal custody of the pet(s).
  • Provide safe, healthy, and appropriate living conditions.
  • Ensure the pet is provided with proper daily care, nutrition, and exercise.

2. Health and Medical Decisions

  • Make all decisions regarding the pet’s veterinary treatment and healthcare needs.
  • Ensure regular check-ups, necessary vaccinations, and preventative care.
  • Authorize emergency procedures or surgeries if needed, in the best interest of the pet.

3. Management of Pet Care Funds

  • Act as a custodian of any funds or assets bequeathed specifically for the care of the pet.
  • Use the designated funds to pay for the pet's well-being including food, shelter, veterinary care, and grooming.
  • Ensure that all expenses are reasonable and directly benefit the pet.
